Prismacolor Tips

the header for their site.
google it and go to the "studio" tab!

it's like a new version of deviant art.
not too much to do on here,
except critique works,
add your own work,
and take/give tips!

i've gotten inspired thanks to this website and its tips
i can't wait to practice techniques i've learned
and looking at other people's artwork
helps with the inspiring, also haha!
enjoy!

Itching to Create

i've been so busy with school recently.
so i haven't been able to practice many techniques
with my prismacolor colored pencils.

i realized in a drawing or two,
that i press WAAAY too hard with my prismacolors!
i need new paper, new techniques!
and i'm getting all of my tips and ideas from
prismacolor's website, of course!
click HERE.

enjoy, and good luck!

How My Girl is Doin'

the color of the photo is kinda off,
but here it is so far!
i'll get another photo eventually,
with better color representation.

Try, Try Again

learning from blending mistakes
trial number two: the sketch

so i took my blending practices
out for a spin.
and didn't like how photo number one was turning out
she looks like a calico cat.

i realized that when i heard
you should start with the lightest shade
it didn't mean to use the lightest possible flesh tone
and deepen it to its darkest
(in my case, i wanted her to be cocoa brown)
i learned about two different shades ought to do it.
and a darker color for shadows.

and instead of using white as a bade color,
i think i'll try the first skin color,
white, then the first skin color again
then continue.
also, work on features like the nose,
before the layers of waxy blendable colors get too deep
and you're not able to make the nose pop anymore.
i'm gonna try to outline lightly with the shadow color,
fist.
see where that takes me.

Been Gone Too Long

i got my N64 for Christmas!
yessir
and some money.
so i'm able to do a few things now!
i bought some Aussie Moist Conditioner
and Aussie 3 Minute Miracle.
i'm praying it works.
and not a waste of money.
but i'm hearing too many good things about it,
for it to NOT work.

also, i spent a good portion of my Christmas
blending my colored pencils.
i'm kind of nervous, but i think i got all of my colors down.
i'm doing a really simple afro girl to start
and see how that goes.

otherwise, christmas was good. lots of food.
hope you guys had an awesome one!

Note to Self: Skin Color

beige/burnt ochre/ white/terra rose

just a side note to myself
to remember what combination of colors i need
when i do my skin tone.

that is, when i get to the coloring portion of my drawing.

ahhh... i can breathe again.

after using rubbing alcohol, baby oil, a colorless blender
and spit

i couldn't get my prismacolor colored pencils
to smooth their colors,
instead of leaving all of that white space!
but thanks to a man on youtube,
he made his base WHITE first, THEN did his thing.
can you say, "huzzah"?

i can.
